In a recent expression of optimism, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized the significance of strengthening relations with ambassadors from Colombia, Cambodia, and Ukraine. During separate credentialing ceremonies held at Malacañan Palace, he welcomed Ambassadors Edgar Rodrigo Rojas Garavito, Sin Saream, and Yuliia Oleksandrivna Fediv.
The President remarked to Colombia’s Ambassador that potential exists for enhanced cooperation across various sectors, stating, “I believe there’s more that we can do, that we can explore many other sectors, and strengthen and deepen the relations between our two countries.” Colombian Ambassador Rojas Garavito highlighted both nations’ commitment to achieving “lasting peace and development” since establishing diplomatic ties on July 5, 1946.
Regarding Cambodia, Marcos noted the foundation for strong relations already exists, stating, “I welcome you to the Philippines and I look forward to even stronger relationships between our two countries.” Ambassador Sin Saream assured that he would work to further promote cooperation to benefit both nations, with formal diplomatic relations having been established on August 20, 1957.
Moreover, Ambassador Fediv conveyed her willingness to enhance bilateral relations with the Philippines, focusing on promoting peace and mutual respect. President Marcos reiterated his support for Ukraine, expressing a desire to assist in the search for peace, despite the geographical distance. Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Ukraine were formalized on April 7, 1992.
