On March 19, 2025, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan organized the International Conference titled “International Year of Peace and Trust: the Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development” in Ashgabat. The event attracted a diverse audience, including government officials, ministers, diplomatic representatives, international organizations, and media personnel from around the globe.
Participants commenced the conference by attentively listening to the congratulatory message from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, directed towards the attendees. Following this, former President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, currently the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, addressed the conference to bless its proceedings and share his insights.
In his address, Hero-Arkadag underscored the values of peace, trust, equality, and mutual benefit that should guide economic partnerships. He asserted that successful economic, infrastructure, trade, and investment projects are predicated on these principles. He stressed the importance of global thinking and cooperation, placing particular responsibility on leading international and financial institutions.
Hero-Arkadag highlighted Turkmenistan’s commitment to advocating for a fair geo-economy and diversifying energy resources, emphasizing vital projects that unite Central and South Asia. He elaborated on the geopolitical significance of ongoing energy, transport, and infrastructure projects designed to create new corridors connecting these regions.
Sessions that followed focused on various thematic areas, including the geopolitical impact of major projects such as the Turkmenistan – India gas pipeline and the electric pipeline linking Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Discussions encompassed energy, transport, industry, water resources, and agriculture, showcasing Turkmenistan’s influential role in promoting interregional cooperation grounded in mutual respect.
The conference concluded with the adoption of a Final Document summarizing the discussions and resolutions made. An Address to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov was also prepared by the conference participants. On the same day, bilateral meetings took place between foreign delegates and Turkmen officials from pertinent ministries and departments to further discuss cooperation possibilities.
