The sixth edition of the Nedbank for Good Series commenced with a successful launch, featuring a concurrent Nedbank Ladies Central Open at Omeya Golf Club on 8 and 9 March, showcasing impressive attendance. Organisers reported a total of 106 participants in the series, alongside 26 senior ladies and six junior golfers in the Ladies Central Open.

Tashia Kalondo, the newly appointed Secretary of the Namibia Amateur Ladies Golf Union (NALGU), noted the merger of the two tournaments as a strategic enhancement, providing participants with a highly competitive platform. She emphasized NALGU’s dedication to developing youth golf through various workshops and training programs, aiming to reduce the average age of female golfers in Namibia, currently at an older demographic of 40 years.

Dan Zwiebel, founder of DZ Golf and organiser of the series, praised this collaboration and indicated intentions to further involve NALGU in future events. In the men’s competition, Douglas Holtzhausen triumphed with 39 points, followed closely by Dieter Schrywer with 38 points. Braam Vermeulen secured third place, also with 38 points but counted out.

In the women’s category, Wilna Bredenhann claimed victory with 43 points, while Tashia Kalondo and Mariena Ludwig followed closely with 42 and 38 points respectively. He reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to fostering women’s sports and urged other corporations to invest in women’s golf development. This year’s series proceeds are designated for Agra ProVision, aimed at supporting underserved agricultural communities.

In a celebratory moment, Wilna Bredenhann was honored with her trophy presented by Rosy Eixas, Nedbank Namibia Head of Private Banking.
