The Fiji Football Association will conduct its 87th Ordinary Congress this Friday, with new candidates nominated for vice-presidential positions. This weekend, the Fiji Football Association (FFA) is set to conduct its 87th Ordinary Congress, and the vice-presidential races are heating up. As announced by Fiji FA Chief Executive Mohammed Yusuf, this significant gathering will take place on Friday at the Fiji FA headquarters located in Vatuwaqa, Suva, starting at 10 a.m.
Several notable figures have emerged as nominees for the vice-presidential positions, among them former vice-president and businessman Aiyaz Musa. Other candidates include former Suva football president Ritesh Pratap, Labasa football president Rayaz Khan, Lautoka football president Shailendra Prasad, Nadroga football president Max Chetty, as well as nominees Jiten Kumar and Moin Ali. It is a diverse slate of candidates, showcasing the ongoing evolution within FFA.
“Yes, nominations have closed but the governance committee will meet this afternoon to check eligibility of candidates before we release,” said Yusuf, hinting at the thorough vetting process ahead. The Fiji FA will elect six vice-presidents tasked with representing key regions: the South, West, North, and also including a women’s representative.
The current vice-presidents are Jitendra Kumar, Girja Prasad, Jitendra Reddy, Edwin Chand, Yogeshwar Singh, Naziah Ali-Krishna, and Susan Wise serving as the women’s representative. Following the congress, the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT is on the agenda, commencing at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
As for the opening day of the tournament, excitement is in the air. The first match will kick off at 12:30 p.m. when Nadi faces Nadroga. Following that, Navua will challenge Lautoka at 2:30 p.m. The highly-anticipated clash between Rewa and Ba will take place at 4:30 p.m. Day One will close with Suva clashing against Labasa at 7 p.m.
The action-filled weekend continues with pool matches on Saturday and Sunday, with the semifinals and championship final scheduled for the subsequent weekend.
