First Andes Silver Ltd. has hired SPF Drilling S.A.C. for a 2000-meter drilling program at Santas Gloria, Peru. The drilling starts in July 2025 following a successful 2024 campaign that showed high-grade silver intercepts. The focus will be on exploring deeper sulphide mineralization in the San Jorge vein, among other targets.
In a significant move, First Andes Silver Ltd. has announced that they have engaged SPF Drilling S.A.C. for an ambitious 2000-meter diamond drilling program at the Santas Gloria Project in Peru. The company, which is headquartered in Vancouver, intimated that the mobilization of drilling rigs will start this month with drilling scheduled to kick off in July. This initiative marks an important step in their exploration strategy, especially following a successful drilling milestone in 2024.
Colin Smith, CEO and Director of First Andes, expressed satisfaction with the partnership with SPF Drilling, citing their extensive experience in the Peruvian mining landscape and a strong safety record. Notably, First Andes’ drilling efforts last year yielded unexpected high-grade silver intercepts within oxide zones, spurring excitement for the upcoming drill program. The drilling will explore for deeper extensions of higher-grade mineralization connected to the sulphide zones of the San Jorge vein, which is just one among fifteen minimally explored vein systems at Santas Gloria.
The 2025 drilling campaign aims for about 2000 meters across 15 to 17 drill holes, building on the success of the previous year’s endeavors that unveiled multiple high-grade silver intercepts. With the San Jorge vein returning the best results in 2024, this new campaign will endeavor to explore its deeper sulphide zones which have never been fully tapped. Despite having only been drilled over about 250 meters of its mapped surface stretch of over 2.6 kilometers, the San Jorge vein shows promising potential based on last year’s findings.
The company emphasized that the Santas Gloria project showcases significant exploration upside due to its history of minimal modern drilling. Assay intervals from the 2024 drill program revealed impressive grades of silver, underscoring the project’s strategic importance in the region. The drilling data indicates a robust and previously undetected mineralized system, which could lead to more extensive prospecting efforts in the near future.
In terms of quality assurance, First Andes adheres to rigorously recognized industry standards for best practices. Samples from last year’s drilling were sent to ALS Peru S.A. in Lima. They utilized sealable plastic bags, ensuring the integrity of the samples while complying with QA/QC protocols. According to reports, core recovery exceeded 90%, indicating solid performance overall.
SPF Drilling, based in Lima since 2007, is noted for its diverse services in the mining sector. Their commitment to safety and environmental practices positions them well in the industry. The company is expected to bring valuable expertise to the table as First Andes moves forward with the drilling program.
First Andes Silver Ltd., which has a 100% stake in the Santas Gloria property, is located in a well-established mining area about 100 km east of Lima. Given the project’s 12 km of surface veins which remained unexplored until last year, it stands as a prime site for potential silver production, especially following the high-grade results obtained in their previous drilling efforts.
First Andes Silver Ltd. is preparing for an intensive 2000-meter drilling program at the Santas Gloria Project in Peru, following a successful 2024 drill campaign. Partnering with SPF Drilling, the company aims to explore deeper sulphide mineralization associated with the promising San Jorge vein. With significant results from previous drilling and adherence to quality standards, the upcoming program holds potential for uncovering substantial silver resources, thereby highlighting the project’s exploration viability moving forward.
