Female Inter-County T20 Tournament Highlights Woman’s Cricket in Guyana

The Guyana Cricket Board is hosting an Inter-County T20 tournament for female cricketers at La Bonne Intention. Matches will take place from April 5-7, 2023, featuring teams from Demerara, Berbice, and Essequibo. The tournament is significant for selecting the national team for the upcoming regional T20 tournament, providing a platform for women’s cricket.

This weekend, top female cricketers from across Guyana will participate in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Inter-County T20 tournament at the La Bonne Intention ground. The matches not only aim to crown a county champion but also serve as a selection platform for the national team ahead of the regional T20 tournament. All games will commence at 13:00 hours on the following dates:

– April 5: Demerara vs. Essequibo
– April 6: Berbice vs. Essequibo
– April 7: Berbice vs. Demerara

Demerara’s team will be captained by Kaysia Schultz, featuring players such as Nyia Latchman, Tilleya Madramootoo, and Naomi Barkoye. The squad also includes Letisha Jordan, Cianna Barkoye, Roshanna Harper, along with Chelsea Latif, Rushell Roberts, Rebecca Cilto, Anita Hendricks, Lynda Sylvan, Afifah Wickhm, Anesa Chetram, and Racel Joseph, forming a well-rounded and competitive unit.

Meanwhile, Berbice will be led by Sheneta Grimmond, who is supported by vice-captain Realanna Grimmond and players like Katana Mentore and Sherika Cambelle. Additional team members are Reneta Ramdeo, Tameka George, Tia Isaacs, Tricia Hardat, Crystal Durant, Daniella Hicks, Plaffiana Millington, Daniella Manns, Danielle Lindee, Jada Fraser, and Kianna Leach.

Essequibo’s captain Laurene Williams will lead her team, assisted by vice-captain Yonette Welcome. The squad includes players like Tremaine Marks, Annestecia Vanezuel, and Latoya Williams, complemented by Varuni Pitamber, Shonette Belgrave, Cyanna Retimiah, Brianna Samaroo, Aliyah Da’Silva, Ackella Belgrave, Adina Smith, Ashanti Mohamed, Kumarie Persaud, and Navika Narine.
