Chile’s President Hails PM Modi’s Global Leadership During Historic Visit

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception in India, President Boric emphasized that this is his first state visit since no Chilean leader has visited India in the past 16 years. He acknowledged the significant changes that have taken place in India during that time. To strengthen bilateral relations, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed between the two nations.

Highlighting the intention to deepen ties, President Boric stated, “Chile is a country that is connected to the world, and now we want to work on our relationship with India.” He spoke about Chile’s commitment to strategic autonomy, indicating that their international connections with countries such as the United States and China do not hinder their desire to collaborate more closely with India.

During this visit, President Boric participated in bilateral discussions with PM Modi at Hyderabad House, and was hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at a banquet. Accompanied by various ministers and business leaders, Boric will visit several Indian cities, including Agra, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, to further enhance diplomatic and cultural exchanges. His engagement in India marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic journey between the two countries, commemorating 76 years of relationship.
