The Sudanese Army’s recent control over the Libya Market is considered critical as it represents a stronghold of the RSF in western Omdurman. This success could facilitate further military actions aimed at increasing the army’s influence in western Omdurman, where the RSF maintains its presence.
Additionally, the Sudanese Army has reported clearing most of the Khartoum and Bahri districts, achieving complete control of these vital areas. Recent statements indicated the army’s success in dislodging the last RSF remnants in the Khartoum region, following their recapture of significant facilities including the Khartoum Airport.
The conflict between the Sudanese Army and the RSF, which erupted in April 2023, has resulted in a staggering death toll exceeding 20,000 and displaced nearly 15 million individuals. Estimates from American universities suggest that the death toll may reach approximately 130,000, highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis.
In recent developments, the RSF has retreated from various regions, including key states across Sudan. Out of the 18 states in Sudan, the RSF retains control only in certain pockets located primarily in the western and southern regions of Omdurman, as well as parts of North and West Kordofan, alongside four states in the Darfur region.
