At 72 years, Nandi-Ndaitwah is a prominent member of Namibia’s ruling party, SWAPO, which has governed since the country attained independence in 1990. Her political journey commenced with her involvement in the independence movement, leading to her election to the National Assembly in 1990. Over her career, she has occupied various ministerial roles, including the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Welfare, Information and Broadcasting, Environment and Tourism, and Foreign Affairs. Most recently, she served as Namibia’s first female vice president in February 2024.
