INS Tushil, the Indian Navy’s newest guided missile stealth frigate, successfully concluded its inaugural port visit to Dakar, Senegal. This visit not only bolstered diplomatic relations between India and Senegal but also emphasized collaborative efforts in maritime security. During the three-day stay, Captain Peter Varghese met with Rear Admiral Abdou Sene, Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Navy, to enhance naval cooperation initiatives.
The visit featured a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), which highlighted the capabilities of the Indian Navy’s NISHAR – MITRA terminal. Additionally, a joint Yoga session was conducted with the participation of the Yoga Association of Senegal and personnel from the Indian Navy. The ship’s welcoming of approximately 150 visitors from the Indian diaspora and the Senegalese local community further illustrated the Indian Navy’s increasing engagement in the region.
INS Tushil concluded its visit with a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) alongside the Senegalese naval vessel PHM Niani. This collaboration signifies the commitment to fostering regional security and enhancing the interoperability of both naval forces.
