The World Happiness Report 2025, released on March 20 in honor of the International Day of Happiness, ranks Finland as the happiest nation for the eighth year running. Notably, Kazakhstan has emerged as the most content country in Central Asia, surpassing Uzbekistan in this year’s rankings.
This report evaluates various indicators, including gross domestic product per capita, life expectancy, social support, personal freedom, corruption levels, and population generosity. The Central Asian rankings are as follows: Kazakhstan ranks 43rd (an increase of six positions), Uzbekistan is at 53rd (a decrease of six positions), Kyrgyzstan remains steady at 75th, Tajikistan rises two places to 90th, and Turkmenistan is not included in the rankings.
Furthermore, the United States did not attain a position in the top ten, dropping to 24th place. In contrast, Russia improved its standing by six spots to 66th, while Ukraine experienced a decline, falling six places to 111th. Afghanistan has been identified as the least happy country, ranking 147th, alongside other low-ranking nations such as Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.
