This successor to the Huracán features a hybrid powertrain with a powerful V8 engine, achieving 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. It introduces innovative driving modes and is the first of its kind in Lamborghini’s HPEV range, highlighting a fusion of performance and technology.
Lamborghini has recently introduced its new supercar, the Temerario, at a launch event in Johannesburg, South Africa. Acting as the successor to the Huracán, this model is positioned as Lamborghini’s new ‘entry-level’ supercar, priced at R7,525,000. Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer, described the Temerario as providing “an innovative and emotional driving experience at the same time,” highlighting its e-4WD system with real torque vectoring.
The Temerario features an advanced hybrid powertrain consisting of a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, complemented by three electric motors, resulting in a remarkable total output of 677 kW. This performance translates to an impressive acceleration time, allowing the car to reach 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. Mohr emphasized the car’s balance, stating, “On the one hand we have a car that is absolutely precise and effective on the track, on the other we have a more typically rear-wheel drive character, oriented towards maximum involvement for the driver.”
This vehicle is noteworthy as it is the first super sports car from Lamborghini equipped with a V8 twin-turbo engine in conjunction with electric motors. Furthermore, it is only the second offering in Lamborghini’s High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) range. Drivers are provided with a versatile driving experience, as the car allows for the selection of 13 different driving modes through rotors on the steering wheel, including Città, Strada, Sport, Corsa, and Corsa Plus. Activating the “checkered flag” button for two seconds will enable Launch Control, making it ideal for quick acceleration between traffic signals.
The Lamborghini Temerario represents a significant advancement in the brand’s car lineup, combining performance and innovative technology. With its hybrid powertrain, exceptional acceleration, and driver-focused features, it is set to redefine the supercar experience. The unveiling of this model in South Africa marks a new chapter for Lamborghini enthusiasts, showcasing cutting-edge automotive design and engineering.
