This revelation came shortly after the military expelled the notorious paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), from the region. Police reported that 11 bodies, including women and children, were retrieved from the well located in the Fayhaa neighborhood following a resident’s alert regarding a deceased body found there.
Col. Abdul-Rahanan Mohamed Hassan, head of the civil defense team in Khartoum, indicated that the search commenced after community members notified authorities of the gruesome find. We discovered various bodies inside this well, including males, females, adults, and children, said Hassan, who also mentioned that the search for additional remains was ongoing. Authorities suspect that the RSF is responsible for the killings, which were carried out while the group maintained control over the area.
Earlier this month, the military regained control of the region as part of its offensive operations in Khartoum and Omdurman, although there has been no immediate comment from the RSF regarding these findings. Afraa al-Hajj Omar, a resident from the nearby Hajj Youssef neighborhood, alleged that the RSF had executed numerous individuals in the vicinity, discarding their bodies on the streets.
