During their joint press conference, Ramgoolam emphasized the commitment to broader cooperation in sectors such as space research, artificial intelligence, digital health, ocean economy, pharmaceuticals, information and communication technology (ICT), financial technology (FinTech), and cybersecurity.
He expressed gratitude for PM Modi’s attendance during Mauritius’ National Day celebrations, citing it as symbolic of their unique relationship. Ramgoolam remarked on the importance of Modi’s presence, as it underlines the exceptional bond shared by both nations on the occasion of their 57th independence anniversary.
PM Modi reciprocated by announcing India’s cooperation in the construction of a new Parliament House in Mauritius, stating, “Today, Prime Minister Navin Chandra Ramgoolam and I decided to give the India-Mauritius partnership the status of ‘Enhanced Strategic Partnership.'” He framed this collaboration as a gift from India, referring to it as being from the “Mother of Democracy.”
Furthermore, the Indian Prime Minister congratulated the people of Mauritius on their National Day and highlighted the countries’ deep-rooted connections, affirming their roles as partners in economic growth.
