Interior Minister Receives Food Supplies for Prisoners from HUDAI Foundation

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak received a donation from the HUDAI Foundation to support inmates through essential food supplies. The foundation’s contributions include Ramadan food packages and infrastructural projects in Ghana. Their ongoing humanitarian efforts demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives of those in need.

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has received a significant donation of essential food supplies from the Human Development Association International (HUDAI) Foundation, a Turkish organization committed to humanitarian efforts in Ghana. This donation, aimed at supporting inmates, was made on behalf of the Ghana Prisons Service as part of HUDAI’s annual charitable initiatives, and it took place on March 14, 2025.

The donation included vital food items such as bags of rice, cooking oil, tomato paste, sugar, and spaghetti. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak expressed his gratitude during a speech on March 21, 2025, highlighting that such contributions alleviate the various challenges faced by prisoners. He assured the public that the items would be utilized appropriately and urged other organizations to provide similar support.

The Minister stressed, “Imprisonment is not a death sentence. Providing for inmates improves their well-being and aids in their rehabilitation.” Meanwhile, Abdurahim Yüce, Project Coordinator of HUDAI Foundation, spoke on behalf of General Coordinator Remzi Şeker, reaffirming the foundation’s dedication to humanitarian service, driven by goodwill and a desire to positively impact lives.

As part of its Ramadan initiative, HUDAI Foundation has distributed over 8,000 food packages, consisting of rice, cooking oil, spaghetti, tomato paste, and sugar, to families in need, including prisoners. Additionally, special food packages have been arranged for Muslims breaking their fast after prayers.

Supported by the Turkish government, HUDAI Foundation has significantly contributed to Ghana’s development in sectors such as infrastructure, education, and humanitarian aid. Among its notable achievements is the construction of the 15,000-capacity Ghana National Mosque in Kanda, Accra, making it the second-largest mosque in West Africa.

The mosque complex is comprehensive, featuring a library, offices, residential apartments, a research facility, a high school, a clinic, an administration block, an auditorium, and a conference center. In addition to religious and educational support, the foundation has implemented clean water solutions across Ghana by constructing boreholes in regions lacking access to clean water. Notably, in 2019, it commissioned four electric mechanized boreholes in Tamale as part of a broader initiative to address water scarcity in underprivileged areas.

The recent donation of food supplies to the Ghana Prisons Service by HUDAI Foundation exemplifies impactful humanitarian efforts that address the needs of inmates. The commitment from both the Minister for the Interior and HUDAI Foundation underlines the importance of inmate welfare and rehabilitation. HUDAI Foundation’s broader contributions to Ghana’s infrastructure, education, and clean water access further strengthen its role as a vital partner in the country’s development.
