The cyclone made its initial landfall in northern Mozambique early Sunday before advancing to southern Malawi, where it caused widespread heavy flooding from Monday to Wednesday.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that relief operations are facing significant challenges due to damaged infrastructure, including washed-away roads and bridges. This event follows the devastation caused by Cyclone Chido in December of the previous year, which resulted in the deaths of 73 individuals in Mozambique and 13 in Malawi.
