Claro Colombia has achieved a significant enhancement in its IT operational efficiency following the migration of its critical systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This strategic move has decreased transactional data latency in Bogotá to a remarkable 4-5 seconds and expedited the deployment time for new infrastructure from four months to just two weeks, which has resulted in improved team productivity, as highlighted during the company’s Tech Summit.
The integration involves Claro hosting Oracle’s cloud region in its $100 million Triara datacenter situated along the Bogotá-Medellín highway. Announced in 2022, this partnership comprised an investment of $25 million in the datacenter and the transfer of over 100 on-premise servers responsible for mission-critical processes to Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.
In its inaugural year of operation, Oracle’s cloud region has expanded remarkably, growing from seven to nearly 500 customers, enhancing its service offerings from 20 to more than 150, and witnessing a doubling of consumption, according to the companies involved. Additionally, Claro has committed a 15 billion pesos (approximately $3.6 million) investment into bolstering technical capabilities, software, and artificial intelligence to enhance cybersecurity measures and integrate AI technology into its suite of corporate solutions.
Claro Colombia also collaborates with various other ICT concerns, exemplified by its recent updates concerning substantial projects in the region. The company aims to further amplify its telecom infrastructure capabilities while continuously enhancing its service offerings and expanding its customer base.
Claro Colombia’s migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure represents a pivotal advancement in its operational efficiency and service delivery. The reduction in data latency and deployment times, coupled with a significant investment in technical capabilities and AI, underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable growth within the ICT sector.
