Richard Ramdeholl to Lead Guyana U-15 Cricket Squad in Upcoming Championship

Richard Ramdeholl will captain the Guyana Under-15 cricket squad for the upcoming Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Championship from April 13-24 in Antigua, with Brandon Henry as vice-captain. The team features a mix of returning players and newcomers, aiming to replicate past successes.

Richard Ramdeholl has been appointed captain of the Guyana Under-15 cricket squad set to participate in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-15, 50-over Championship, which will take place from April 13-24 in Antigua. The Guyana Cricket Board revealed a 14-member team, featuring all-rounder Brandon Henry as vice-captain. Ramdeholl previously led Berbice to victory in the Inter-County, 50-over competition earlier this year, maintaining an unbeaten record.

The squad includes four returning members from the prior year: Justin Dowlin, Jathneil Nurse, Richard Ramdeholl, and Brandon Henry. Joining them are players Lomar Seecharran, Luke Amsterdam, Shahid Ramzan, Arif Bacchus, Nathaniel Ramsammy, Usain Fredericks, Reyaz Latif, and Patrice Fraser, with Rafael McKenzie and Prosper Jacobus completing the roster. The reserves consist of Khush Seegobin, Joshua Thomas, Bomesh Lall, Nathan Bishop, Tameshwar Deonandan, and Tyrese McPherson.

Coach Yeuraj Khemraj and Manager Yogeshwar Lall will oversee the team. During the Inter-County championship, Brandon Henry was the leading run-scorer with 92 runs, showcasing impressive performances from teammates including Shahid Ramzan, who scored 91 runs in a match against Essequibo. Key contributions also came from Justin Dowlin and Prosper Jacobus with significant half-centuries.

Defensively, Reyaz Latif emerged as the joint-leading wicket-taker in the Inter-County competition, claiming nine wickets, sharing the accolade with Joshua Thomas. Richard Ramdeholl also performed well, securing eight wickets in total. Essequibo’s Jathneil Nurse earned a position on the team due to his essential contributions with both bat and ball, complementing the spin attack of Ramdeholl and Henry.

The squad has been strategically augmented with a four-man pace attack, which is vital in a regional tournament where bonus points may affect championship standings. Notably, Guyana’s most recent triumph in the Under-15 championship occurred in 2015 under the leadership of Ashmead Nedd.

The Guyana Under-15 cricket team, under the captaincy of Richard Ramdeholl, is preparing for the upcoming Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Championship. The squad, featuring a blend of experienced players and newcomers, shows promise with strong past performances, particularly in batting and bowling. The strategic selection aims to secure a successful run for Guyana, who last claimed the championship title in 2015.
