Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a two-day visit to Mauritius, where he will participate in national day celebrations, meet local leaders, and inaugurate important projects funded by India. This visit aims to enhance cooperation in various sectors, sign multiple agreements, and strengthen India-Mauritius relations, with an emphasis on community infrastructure and capacity building.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced a two-day visit to Mauritius, arriving amidst a grand reception by top dignitaries, including Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam and other high-ranking officials. A total of 200 dignitaries, such as members of the Diplomatic Corps and religious leaders, were in attendance, reflecting the significance of this state visit. During his visit, Modi is scheduled to meet with the President of Mauritius and engage in discussions with senior officials and political leaders. Furthermore, he will interact with the Indian community and inaugurate significant projects, such as the Civil Service College and the Area Health Centre, funded by India.

In total, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate over 20 India-funded projects aimed at capacity building and developing community-related infrastructure. Major new infrastructure projects are also set to be announced, designed to further strengthen democratic initiatives in the island nation.

Modi, alongside Prime Minister Ramgoolam, will inaugurate the Civil Service College building, completed at an expenditure of approximately USD 4.75 million, with its MoU signed in 2017. Additionally, he will e-inaugurate the Area Health Centre and other community projects, which include sports-related infrastructure worth around INR 7 crores.
