On Friday, a UN helicopter engaged in a rescue mission was attacked in Upper Nile State, resulting in the death of one crew member and injuries to two others. Additionally, an army general was killed during the failed operation, highlighting the ongoing violence and instability plaguing South Sudan, a nation facing historic political turmoil.
In a statement, President Kiir urged calm and reassured the public of his commitment to avoid rekindling conflict.
