The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially condemned the attacks perpetrated by the remnants of the former Syrian regime against security forces. In a declaration issued on Saturday, the UAE Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Syria’s stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while expressing solidarity with the Syrian populace.
In a coordinated effort, military and security personnel from various regions of Syria united on Thursday to respond to a significant offensive by loyalists of Bashar Assad in the coastal town of Jableh and adjacent areas, resulting in the deaths of eleven Syrian army members.
Gayyas Delle, who leads part of the deposed regime’s forces, revealed plans to establish a military council aimed at toppling the current government, following his involvement in the ambush targeting security forces. Since fleeing to Russia on December 8, Bashar Assad’s nearly 25-year leadership of Syria has seen the dismantling of the Baath Party’s long-standing regime.
On January 29, Ahmed al-Sharaa, a prominent figure in the anti-regime forces, was designated as president for a transitional phase, further highlighting the ongoing political transformations within Syria.
