Nepal Women’s T20 Team Defeated by Namibia in Entebbe Series

On March 8, the Nepali women’s cricket team faced a defeat against Namibia by six wickets during the four-nation women’s T20I series, held at the Entebbe Cricket Oval in Uganda. Following rain interruptions, the match was reduced to a 15-over format under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, decreasing Nepal’s target to 71 runs, which Namibia successfully chased in 14.5 overs, losing four wickets in the process.

Mekelaye Mwatile emerged as Namibia’s top scorer with 26 runs off 35 balls, while Jurriene Diergaardt contributed 13 runs not out. Other notable scores included Edelle van Zyl with eight runs, Captain Sune Wittmann scoring seven runs, Yasmeen Khan with six, and Wilka Mwatile adding five runs.

For Nepal, the bowling efforts were led by Captain Indu Verma, Kabita Joshi, Pooja Mahato, and Ishwori Bista, each claiming one wicket. Nepal batted first after losing the toss and managed to accumulate 92 runs before being all out in 20 overs, with Samjhana Khadka scoring 18 runs from 11 balls, followed by Ishwari Bista with 17, Kabita Joshi with 16, and Pooja Mahato who scored 13 runs along with an additional 15 runs awarded.

Nepal’s next match is scheduled against Uganda on Sunday, with subsequent matches against Hong Kong on March 10, Namibia on March 12, Uganda on March 13, and Hong Kong again on March 14.
