The court disclosed this information on Thursday.
In response, a representative from the United Arab Emirates stated that the country will seek the immediate dismissal of the case, asserting that it lacks any legal or factual foundation. Despite not receiving an immediate comment from the Sudanese foreign ministry, Sudanese officials have consistently accused the UAE of supporting the RSF during their ongoing civil conflict.
Intense ethnic violence in West Darfur, particularly involving the RSF and affiliated militias targeting the Masalit ethnic group, has been documented throughout 2023. The World Court reported that Sudan claims these violent acts have been directly supported by the UAE’s endorsement of the RSF and its allied militias.
An official from the UAE characterized Sudan’s application to the International Court as a publicity stunt intended to distract from the established involvement of the Sudanese Armed Forces in ongoing atrocities affecting the nation and its population.
