Joshua Ogoti, the Principal Engineer for the project, emphasized the center’s ability to enhance user experience by providing stability and resilience for services like M-PESA. With efficient automated systems, customers can easily make queries and receive solutions instantly, significantly enhancing customer service capabilities.
Strategically located in Limuru, Safaricom’s decision to own the land aligns with the need to comply with Kenya’s data privacy regulations while also considering environmental impact. The facility is tiered at Tier 3+, a classification from the Uptime Institute that reflects reliability and performance.
This Limuru Data Center operates with an impressive uptime of 99.982% and incorporates advanced cooling systems that support high-capacity racks to meet industry standards set by leading cloud services like AWS and Microsoft. Esther Karuga, Senior Manager and Lead of the Limuru Data Center, affirmed that the facility adheres to international best practices, positioning it alongside major global players such as Google and Microsoft.
