The Iranian regime executed 27 prisoners on March 2, 2025, amidst rising protests, further escalating its campaign of repression. In response, rebellious youth launched 15 operations against regime symbols and facilities, denouncing the regime’s violence with the slogan “No to executions.” These actions highlight growing dissent against the mullahs’ oppressive rule amidst a backdrop of severe economic hardship.
On March 2, 2025, as the Iranian regime faced increasing internal pressures and protests, it executed at least 27 prisoners in a bid to stifle dissent. In total, 54 prisoners were executed within the timeframe from February 26 to March 2, a shocking frequency of three executions every five hours. Various prisons continue to witness ongoing executions, with the regime refusing to disclose comprehensive statistics or names of the victims.
In retaliation to the regime’s violent repression, on March 3, Iran’s defiant youth launched 15 actions under the slogan “No to executions.” These resulted in significant attacks on regime facilities, including incendiary operations against execution centers and bases associated with the State Security Forces across several provinces, including Khuzestan and Kerman.
The youth also targeted symbolic representations of regime oppression by igniting fires at centers of fundamentalism and terrorism, as well as numerous bases belonging to the IRGC and Basij. Prominent figures associated with the regime, such as its founder Ruhollah Khomeini and current leader Ali Khamenei, were specifically denounced through these acts of rebellion, highlighting the widespread frustration among the populace.
Earlier, on February 24, another wave of operations targeting regime symbols and suppressive facilities had already been executed. The consistent nature of these uprisings demonstrates the desperation of the youth against a backdrop of intense inflation, electricity shortages, and high unemployment, amidst the regime’s increasing use of executions as a means of control.
The staggering executions executed within days illustrate the regime’s desperation and fear of the growing protest movements. The oppressive tactics employed aim to create an atmosphere of fear and obedience; however, the tenacity displayed by Iran’s youth signifies that the regime’s attempts to silence public dissent will likely prove insufficient.
The Iranian regime’s ongoing campaign of mass executions reflects its deep-seated fear of popular uprisings and dissent. Despite these oppressive measures, Iran’s youth have responded with courageous acts of defiance, demonstrating their commitment to protesting against oppression. As economic conditions worsen, the cycle of violence and resistance continues, indicating that the regime’s attempts at stifling dissent are increasingly met with resilience from the people.
