Ghana Offers Lowest Hajj Fare at $4,100 in the Sub-Region – Collins Dauda

Collins Dauda, Chairman of the Hajj Board, stated that Ghana has the lowest Hajj fare at $4,100, significantly cheaper than neighboring countries which charge over $5,000. The government has set March 13 as the payment deadline, monitoring that only 5,000 pilgrims will be airlifted to ensure a seamless pilgrimage process.

In a recent statement, Collins Dauda, Chairman of the Hajj Board, announced that Ghana offers the most affordable Hajj fares among its neighboring countries. The fare for pilgrims in Ghana is set at $4,100, which translates to approximately GHS 62,000. This fare stands in stark contrast to those charged in surrounding nations such as Senegal, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and Nigeria, all of which exceed $5,000.

At a media event marking the opening of a satellite passport office in Hajj village, Mr. Dauda clarified that the government does not foresee any reductions in the established Hajj fare. “Not that I know of, the fare we have announced is GHS 62,000. But you must know that in the sub-region, Ghana’s fare is the cheapest. Nigeria is over $5000, Burkina Faso over $5000, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire over $5000,” he stated.

Furthermore, the government has designated March 13 as the deadline for Hajj fare payments. To facilitate a smooth pilgrimage process, Mr. Dauda emphasized that only 5,000 pilgrims would be airlifted. He urged travel agents to monitor payments closely, stating that after reaching the cap of 5,000, no further payments would be accepted. “We do not want a situation where someone will pay and is unable to go,” he added, reiterating the importance of careful oversight by agents.

In conclusion, Collins Dauda has confirmed that Ghana’s Hajj fare is the lowest in the sub-region at $4,100. All neighboring countries charge higher fares, exceeding $5,000. The deadline for payment is set for March 13, with a limit of 5,000 pilgrims for airlifting, ensuring a coordinated approach to managing the pilgrimage.
