This endeavor aligns with the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and adheres to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 6, which advocates for the sustainable management of water and sanitation for all individuals.
Access to clean water is crucial for health, education, and economic growth. Unfortunately, numerous communities in Ghana continue to depend on unsafe water sources, leading to health risks and obstructing their development. In response, CBG has engaged with these communities to assess their specific needs and provide sustainable solutions as part of a larger CSR framework.
As part of the initiative, CBG has successfully constructed 26 boreholes across various communities, including Lambussie, Sissala East, Wa West, Techiman South, and the Oti Region. These boreholes supply clean water to underserved populations, significantly enhancing public health and living conditions.
The targeted communities benefiting from this initiative include Nchumuru, Asempa Akura, Odeefo, Borae, Banda, Tanosim Ahyiayemu, Buligine, Karni Nyanbul, Kpare-Dakpoo, Gyirgan, Kadiligo, Zumara, Duu East, Wellembelle-Bidieboi, Kunchugu, Hakyagagand, Samoa-Lung, and Balawa, among others. CBG’s intervention has been positively received, with community leaders expressing gratitude for the reliable access to clean water.
One community chief remarked, “Water is life.
