Amazon Egypt, in partnership with Share a Smile Foundation and the Egyptian Food Bank, is launching the “Iftar on Wheels” program for the sixth year, aiming to deliver 1.3 million Ramadan meals. Amazon Egypt is continuing its annual food security initiative during Ramadan through the “Iftar on Wheels” program, collaborating with Share a Smile Foundation and the Egyptian Food Bank. This year, the program aims to provide 1.3 million meals across Egypt, leveraging Amazon’s extensive delivery infrastructure and involving employee volunteers to enhance community impact.
Omar Elsahy, General Manager of Amazon Egypt, emphasized Ramadan’s significance for community support, stating, “Over the past years, working with our partners, we have been able to provide over 4 million meals to more than 140,000 beneficiaries. Our aim is to build meaningful relationships and contribute to families across Egypt in a tangible way.”
Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank, praised the long-standing partnership with Amazon, highlighting its effectiveness in alleviating hunger during Ramadan. He remarked on the synergy between their food security expertise and Amazon’s logistical strengths in making a significant impact.
Nagwa Elassy, Founder of Share a Smile Foundation, underscored the importance of their ongoing partnership, expressing gratitude for Amazon’s commitment to helping families in need during Ramadan. Additionally, Amazon has launched its annual Ramadan Box, consisting of essential grocery items, which customers can donate to charities or families in need. The company has pledged over 3,000 kilograms of these boxes to support the Tawasol Organization.
Amazon’s fulfillment network in Egypt consists of two centers and 22 delivery stations, which collectively serve 25 governorates. This framework not only facilitates product delivery but also underscores Amazon’s commitment to community engagement and support.
