On Friday evening, President Salva Kiir of South Sudan dismissed three undersecretaries from key ministries. According to a decree issued by the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation (SSBC), John Samuel Bwogo, Lam Tungwar, and Dr. Harriet Akello Pasquale have been relieved of their responsibilities in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Energy and Dams, and Health, respectively.
President Kiir subsequently appointed three successors: Agnes A. Osawa will take over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Madu Acuil Mayuen will assume the role in the Ministry of Energy and Dams, and Dr. Anin Ngot Mou will serve in the Health ministry. This change reflects the government’s ongoing restructuring efforts to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
Furthermore, in a separate decree, President Kiir announced the appointment of technical advisors. Daniel Awow Chuang will join the Ministry of Petroleum, Dr. Cosmas Pitia Kujo is designated for the Ministry of Mining, and Simon Kimon Ladu has been appointed to the Ministry of Finance and Planning, marking a strategic move towards improved governance.
