Indonesian Surgeons Impressed by Iranian-Made Surgical Robots

Indonesian surgeons are impressed with the performance of Iranian-produced Sina robots in surgical procedures, leading to increased interest in training. The robots enable minimally invasive surgery and aims to connect separate regions through telesurgery. Sina’s technology is based on two decades of research and has garnered international recognition, including patents and research publications.

Surgeons in Indonesia have expressed admiration for the capabilities of Iranian-manufactured Sina robots used in surgical operations, as reported by Fars news agency. These robots, introduced to Indonesian hospitals, have resulted in high satisfaction levels among medical professionals. Additionally, approximately 100 new surgeons have shown interest in training courses for the system, building upon 112 others already undergoing instruction since its introduction two years prior.

Indonesia envisions leveraging the Sina system to enhance its Robotic Telesurgery Center, enabling connectivity across western and eastern islands, which are separated by 3,500 kilometers. The Sina Surgical System operates through robots that replicate the precise movements of a surgeon’s hands during minimally invasive procedures, utilizing a 5-millimeter incision for operations. This innovative approach significantly shortens patient recovery times and allows for more accurate stitching of wounds.

The Sina robots accurately translate every centimeter of a surgeon’s hand movement into a one-millimeter movement on the patient’s body. This affords surgeons the ability to operate with greater precision, executing larger scale actions at the console while the robots perform smaller, more exact actions on patients. The development of the Sina technology is attributed to over two decades of research at Tehran’s University of Medical Sciences, rooted in the expertise of Iranian engineers.

Sina has received 10 patents in the United States and various other countries for its technological advancements, and more than 70 international scholarly articles have investigated the system. There are also reports of interest from Russian governmental agencies in this robotic surgical technology, indicating its increasing global recognition and potential.
