The ACUD and the Embassy of Algeria in Cairo have signed a land agreement for a new embassy headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. This initiative aims to relieve congestion in Cairo and enhance diplomatic representation within the city. The move aligns with broader efforts to establish the New Administrative Capital as Egypt’s primary diplomatic center.
The Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) has finalized a land sale agreement with the Embassy of Algeria in Cairo for two plots totaling 23,316 sqm. This site is designated for the construction of the new embassy headquarters and ambassador’s residence in the New Administrative Capital’s Diplomatic District. The signing of the agreement was conducted by Khaled Abbas, Chairperson of ACUD, alongside Mohamed Sofiane Berrah, Algeria’s Ambassador to Egypt, and was attended by senior officials from both sides.
Ambassador Berrah remarked that the project signifies a significant advancement for Egypt, aimed at alleviating congestion and improving services within Cairo. He acknowledged, “The relocation of the Algerian Embassy to the New Administrative Capital aligns with the directives of the leadership in both brotherly nations. I extend my gratitude to ACUD for their support in finalizing this agreement.”
Chairperson Abbas expressed appreciation for the support of the Algerian Ambassador and highlighted the importance of this agreement. He stated, “We are pleased to sign this agreement as a step towards relocating the embassy to the Diplomatic District of the New Administrative Capital. The presence of Algeria’s embassy will further enrich the diplomatic hub of the city.”
The New Administrative Capital’s master plan includes a Diplomatic District where all foreign embassies and diplomatic missions will relocate from various locations in Cairo. This agreement with the Algerian Embassy marks a significant advancement in the broader initiative to consolidate diplomatic missions in this new hub.
The relocation of embassies is instrumental in establishing the New Administrative Capital as Egypt’s primary diplomatic center. Today’s agreement with the Algerian Embassy adds to a series of similar agreements that have been successfully executed with other diplomatic missions, further enhancing the strategic importance of the new capital.
The signing of the land sale agreement between ACUD and the Embassy of Algeria marks a pivotal development in Egypt’s objective to create a centralized diplomatic hub in the New Administrative Capital. The relocation of diplomatic missions is set to enhance urban services and reduce congestion in Cairo, reflecting strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Algeria.
