34th Military Law and Operations Conference Commences in Bali

The 34th Annual International Military Law and Operations Conference (MILOPS 23) is taking place in Bali, Indonesia, gathering 34 nations’ military leaders to discuss the theme of defending the rules-based international order in the Indo-Pacific. Keynote speakers include prominent figures from the U.S., Indonesia, and Australia. The 34th annual International Military Law and Operations Conference (MILOPS 23) hosted by U.S. Indo-Pacific Command is taking place from July 31 to August 3 in Bali, Indonesia. MILOPS 23 will delve into pressing challenges to the rules-based international order, including Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine and its repercussions on security in the Indo-Pacific, excessive territorial claims in the South China Sea, and issues of illegal fishing. The conference aims to foster relationships, build consensus around the rule of law, and establish frameworks for ongoing cooperation.

An annual executive-level forum, MILOPS is co-hosted each year with a rotating partner nation. This year, the Indonesian Ministry of Defense serves as the co-host, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the event in addressing contemporary security challenges in the region.
