While historical exploration in Botswana has been limited due to a shallow overburden of Kalahari sands, the South African section of the belt has yielded numerous finds, including Harmony Gold’s profitable Kalgold mine located 40 kilometers south of the Kraaipan Project.
Under the leadership of President and CEO Ken Armstrong, North Arrow is deploying advanced exploration techniques to assess the gold potential obscured by Kalahari sand. The company is utilizing high-resolution Remote Mapper UAV magnetic surveys, which have covered approximately 80% of the area, with completion of the entire project expected by April. This data will aid in revealing unseen bedrock features essential for developing potential drilling targets.
Structural mapping of naturally exposed banded iron formation (BIF) outcrops is simultaneously underway, correlating previously identified gold values with new survey data. The data points from earlier exploration efforts, such as rotary air blast drilling in the 1990s that indicated various gold grades, will play a critical role in refining target areas coming May.
As part of a three-month reverse-circulation (RC) drilling program, North Arrow aims to identify zones of gold mineralization beneath the overburden. With their optimized drilling platforms allowing rapid daily operations, the company hopes to commence drilling following the identification of priority targets from survey data. This program positions the Kraaipan Project for an expansive future exploration phase and encourages deeper drilling efforts in forthcoming years.
