On February 7, 2023, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu, participated in the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the National Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities and the Group of 77 Residence. This significant event was attended by dignitaries including H.E. Mr. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia; Hon. Mr. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Vice President; and Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung, the Second Lady. Members of the diplomatic community and international organizations were also present.
Ambassador Yin emphasized the importance of this groundbreaking, noting that it reflects the Liberian government’s commitment to upholding human rights, particularly for individuals with disabilities. He reaffirmed China’s longstanding relationship with the Group of 77 and expressed a dedication to enhancing exchanges and cooperation between the two nations to further strengthen their friendship.
In his remarks, President Boakai acknowledged the responsibility of the Liberian government towards all citizens, including those with disabilities. He asserted that the government will maximize the management of national resources to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities, while actively implementing the ARREST Inclusive Development Agenda to foster a more inclusive and prosperous Liberia.
