On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, the Drexel Climate Change and Urban Health Research Center (CCUH) will host a significant webinar featuring Dr. Aina Roca-Barceló, a Climate Adaptation Advisor at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). This event is part of the Climate Change and Urban Health in Latin America Project (SALURBAL-Climate).
Dr. Roca-Barceló is pioneering MSF’s initial systematic heat response plans within the Humanitarian Action for Climate and the Environment (HACE) team. With a PhD from Imperial College London, she contributes her expertise in climate adaptation and health intricacies.
During the webinar, she will present her research titled, “A Random Forest Approach for High-Resolution Estimation of Ground-Level Daily Mean Temperature: Case Study of São Paulo, Brazil (2015–2019).” Dr. Roca-Barceló will discuss the development of a machine-learning model designed to estimate daily mean temperatures in high spatial resolutions, specifically in São Paulo.
