Brazil has officially announced Indonesia as a full member of BRICS, following approval at the Johannesburg Summit in August 2023. On January 6, 2024, Brazil officially welcomed Indonesia as a full member of BRICS, marking a significant milestone during Brazil’s presidency of the group. This membership was approved during the Johannesburg Summit held in August 2023 and was later formalized post the establishment of Indonesia’s new government, which awaited the completion of its presidential elections in 2024 for final confirmation of its membership intentions.
